Printoff Graphic Arts Ltd  has acquired a Bamber Bridge-based printers.

Nelson-based Printoff has taken control of the assets and trade of J T McLaughlin and will now service the company’s existing customers from its state-of-the-art printing facility on Lomeshaye Industrial Estate.

Andy Leet, Chairman of Printoff, said: “In difficult trading conditions for printing companies, it is important to remain focused on the needs of customers, whilst maintaining tight commercial control of the business.
This is the key to the success of Printoff.

“Our strategy is to continue to expand organically, through our existing brands such as Ecoprint, and through further acquisitions similar to that of J T McLaughlin.”

Printoff had a successful year in 2010, with a short listing in the prestigious national PrintWeek awards for Environmental Printer of the Year. The team also won Environmental Business of the Year at the Pendle Business Awards.

Brian Hough is Managing Director at the firm. He said: “Last year was an incredible year for the business.
As a team, we will continue to drive the business forward.

“It is of utmost importance we are at the forefront of emerging technology, so we can continue to be as environmentally conscious as possible, and offer our customers an unrivalled service.”

Last year alone Printoff recycled 100% of their production waste, including 133 tonnes of waste paper, 4,023kg of aluminium printing plates and 5,600 litres of chemicals from print presses and plate making procedures.

Six members of Printoff’s staff have just successfully completed and passed NVQ’s in Business Improvement Techniques. This strengthens the skills and knowledge of our Lean Team and has given a boost to our lean manufacturing programme. We have already seen significant advantages in adopting these techniques and hope to soon be the leanest as well as greenest printer in the area.

Our new Agfa Avalon platesetter is processless which has completely done away with the chemical based processor we had previously. Other benefits are improved printing plates which offer increased image quality and faster make ready times and a web based client portal which allows uploading, ripping, proofing and approval of artwork within minutes.

Printoff has been short listed for the prestigious Print Week national print awards in the category of “Environmental Printer of the Year”.

This is our first time being nominated for a Print Week award and being short listed is a real achievement. The awards ceremony is being held in London on 18th October.

Printoff scooped the Environmental Business Award at the Pendle Business Awards evening on Friday 23rd April. This event is held every 2 years and is open to all businesses in the Pendle area of East Lancashire.

We passed our FSC external audit without any problems although some of our supplier’s shortcomings were brought to our attention. For anyone who thinks FSC is just another badge that printers can buy into, I have to say that it is actually a very stringent standard that really does ensure it’s objectives are adhered to.

Last weeks trials of ‘Drip Off’ went really well, wow, this is a real alternative to Spot UV Varnishing.
Its an in line print process with great contrast between Matt & Gloss areas that needs no Matt Lamination or extra UV process so there will be cost & environmental savings!

We are pleased to announce that we have just had our 6 monthly external audit for both our ISO standards and have passed without any problems. This demonstrates our continued commitment to keeping the standard of our procedures to the very highest level and our culture of continuous improvement.
